Investing in our Shared Tomorrow

At ORIX Corporation USA, our purpose is simple but impactful: to steward a better tomorrow.

Purpose and Profits Go Hand in Hand

We believe that making a positive impact on our communities, clients and employees is our responsibility, and our purpose serves as the driving force to ensure we honor that commitment.

Stewarding a better tomorrow looks different to our various stakeholders. For our clients and partners, we provide the capital and asset management services they need to grow their business. For our employees, we invest in their development and reward their accomplishments, enabling them to pursue their dreams. And for our communities, our purpose is evident in the way our team members tirelessly donate their time, talent and resources to causes close to their hearts.

The common thread: We aim to be a force for good in all we do. We believe a higher purpose and financial success are intertwined, and while profits lead to immediate success, a common purpose will lead to lasting success.

The ORIX Foundation: Greater Impact for the Greater Good

A shining example of our purpose in action: the employee-run ORIX Foundation, our company’s nonprofit arm. Formed in 2009, ORIX Foundation has invested more than $16 million in local nonprofits that are tackling some of the most pressing needs of the communities where we live and work. Specific investment areas include:

• Basic Needs
• Children at Risk
• Education
• Empowerment
• Health
• Veterans

To us, stewarding a better tomorrow also means rolling up our sleeves and volunteering to serve food, plant trees, mentor homeless children and pitch in on countless other activities in our communities. In 2018, our employees spent 3,000 hours volunteering with local nonprofits—and sowing the seeds for a brighter tomorrow.

Mobilizing our People and Resources

Corporate Alliance Resource Group (CARE): collaborating to make a long-term difference

As 2018 came to a close, ORIX Foundation announced the creation of the Corporate Alliance Resource Group (CARE), a collaboration with four other philanthropically minded companies—Fossil, KPMG, MoneyGram and Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP. These Dallas-area corporations joined forces to create a greater collective impact in education by combining funds, volunteers and other resources.

The first item on CARE’s agenda: Volunteer in the libraries of Robert L. Thornton and Barbara Jordan elementary schools in South Dallas, and that’s how team members kicked off the project in February 2019. As the collaborative work of CARE continues, the group plans to partner with other schools in the Dallas and Richardson school districts to increase the ratio of books to children and help promote a love of reading among students.

And while raising literacy rates remains the top priority, CARE members also hope this collaboration will serve as a playbook for other corporations aiming to work together to better our community.
