Joham Tavera is a Managing Director in the Real Estate Investment Strategies (REIS) group at ORIX USA. He is responsible for expanding the scope of private real estate debt solutions, including transitional bridge lending and development financing domestically. Mr. Tavera joined the firm in 2026 and is based in San Francisco.
Mr. Tavera has over 20 years of experience across the domestic and international commercial real estate market. He joins ORIX USA from Capital One, where he was a Senior Vice President in the commercial real estate group covering west coast sponsors and was responsible for executing direct balance sheet financings and providing back leverage to institutional sponsors. Previously, Mr. Tavera served as a Managing Director at Barings/Mass Mutual with a focus on originating senior mortgage through preferred equity investments for closed end debt funds, separate accounts, and insurance company clients. Mr. Tavera has completed over $5.0 billion in loans since 2020, across all property types.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Tavera also held a position at BlackRock as Director of Alternatives in the Real Estate Debt group, and began his career in New York at Citigroup, where he was a Vice President in the Leverage Finance group.
Mr. Tavera earned an MBA in Finance from the University of Michigan and a BA in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley.
