Matthew Ellis, CFA

Associate Director

Matthew Ellis is an Associate Director in ORIX’s Corporate Development group where he is responsible for underwriting and executing middle-market investments including controlling, minority, and mezzanine equity positions across multiple industries. With general industry focus on private equity, financial services, asset management, and infrastructure, Mr. Ellis’ role also includes due diligence and transaction structuring. Mr. Ellis formally trained as an M&A investment banker in Houlihan Lokey’s Associate Program (2015) as a representative for ORIX.

Prior to joining ORIX in 2014, Mr. Ellis held multiple corporate finance positions at 7-Eleven Inc., where he evaluated equity and asset deals, raised long-term debt financing, executed corporate venture capital investments (“7-Ventures”), and managed the company’s capital and strategic planning process.

Mr. Ellis began his career in 2012 as an Associate in PwC’s management consulting practice (“Strategy&”), where he advised clients on strategic initiatives including: M&A advisory, integration/separation management, financial effectiveness, and finance strategy.

Mr. Ellis graduated with honors from Baylor University’s Hankamer School of Business with a BBA and Masters in Finance & Accounting. He is a licensed CPA in Texas and a CFA charter holder.
